Fascinating!

This book teaches that our departed loved ones remain close to us and that their personalities do not all of a sudden change very much after death. They do not see our physical bodies but see our astral bodies, and therefore our emotions. They know when we are in trouble and are at times able to provide assistance, often in the form of thoughts and ideas that they implant in our minds and in the minds of other humans that can help us to resolve our issues. However, once they have reached higher dimensions, departed souls are more and more removed from the affairs of the physical world. "Death brings no suffering, but only joy, for those who live the true, the unselfish life." Someone that has passed on finds that "all pain and fatigue have passed away." (Spiritism teaches otherwise: astral bodies inhabiting the lower dimensions still have a certain density and continue to need nourishment, rest, transportation, and even specialized care at the hands of dedicated spiritual workers.) Astral matter is just as real as physical matter. As one progresses to higher and higher dimensions, matter is more and more rarefied, less and less material, lighter and lighter. "The astral life is happy for some, unhappy for others, according to the preparation they have made for it." Souls continue to learn, work and evolve on the astral plane and eventually move on to higher dimensions. Each time a soul leaves for a higher plane, it casts off its body to experience life in the new dimension through a lighter body.
The discrepancies between the teachings of Theosophy and Spiritism show that both philosophies only detain part of the truth, not all of it. What they have in common is that they both have had extraordinary glimpses into the world beyond and both teach goodwill, compassion and unconditional love and forgiveness. I have been enriched by both philosophies.
