I'm now a fan of Jean Brashear.

Wow! Another great read. This is my second book I've read by Jean Brashear and I think I have found a new favorite author. I can't wait to continue reading about all the Gallaghers of Texas. This was a sweet and emotional story that brought tears to my eyes as I was reading it. Upon first glance I thought this story was going to be the same as the other Gallagher book I read because here was another heroine that was a famous New York City chef yearning for some family but the similarities end there. This story was so much more emotional than Texas Secrets and there wasn't as much angst between the hero and heroine as the other book. I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series.

Good story and enjoyable characters

Really, really enjoyed the characters in this story and loved reading about the locale. Having said that, I would have given this book one more star if not two had the author not chosen to go into a description of the sex act which turned this good story into a Harlequin Romance copy cat. If you have a good story, you don't have to know every detail about their physical sex making. I would love to know what happened next in the lives of these wonderful people.

A talent for cooking

Scarlet is a chef, her mother has died, she and her boyfriend have a successful restaurant and then she's arrested for trafficking drugs through the restaurant. She knows nothing about the drugs and her boyfriend has disappeared, but his connections want her to get to her boyfriend. The police Don't make charges and let her go saying she will have to testify.
In fear, she packs her clothing and a box of her mother's things and papers. When staying at a moral, she starts going through the box and finds out she has a grandmother she never heard about. She had been told there was just her mom and her.
Finding grammar, she discovers she has a cafe and does the cooking. She stays, helps out grandma, but after falling for the little town and it's people.... not to mention a chunky cowboy.... She decides she has to leave before the bad guys find her and hurt some of these wonderful people. Before she is able to leave, two nasty characters show up and then the fun begins.
This is a very well written story. Definitely worth recommending. After reading 7 of these books though, I am seeing a pattern of "damsel in distress" and Jimmy cowboys coming to their rescue. Maybe some smart little tomboy gal could rescue the fella sometime?
