About the Author
JJ Brinks is the author of MURDER ON THE WHISKEY GEORGE, the acclaimed new mystery, first in a series featuring part-time Florida attorney and beachside bar owner Cage Royce, his uncommon law partner, Luke Carey, a powerful, dark presence and mentor in all things slightly illegal and highly dangerous, and Wesley Harland, Panama City Beach Chief of Police who left the force under questionable circumstances to team with Cage and Luke to enforce a most unconventional brand of law. MURDER IN BIG HOPE--the second installment in the smash new series--is now available at Amazon.com. The author, a former executive with the CBS Television Network, is a graduate of Syracuse University where he studied drama and creative writing at the School of Speech and Dramatic Art. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America, East. Before migrating to a career as a novelist, Brinks wrote for television where he earned prime time credits for his work in the Mystery/Crime genre on the USA Network. He and his wife, parents to a son and a daughter, make their home in Southern Oregon.

Thought provoking mystery.

"Murder in Big Hope" picks up with the characters I felt close to since the first installment of this series, "Murder on the Whisky George". I was not let down with this second book by J. J. Brinks. I like reading book series, the good ones make me anxious to find out what my fictitious friends are up to. "Murder in Big Hope" brings back all the major players - Cage, Jamie, Luke, and Wes - and I was happy to have them back. This installment begins with what should be a simple false arrest but quickly escalates into something more disturbing. J.J. Brinks not only got my "who done it" mindset working , but also flared up my righteous indignation.
There is more to think about than murder. A decision has to be made and acted upon and as a group a plan is made, but as in real life thing don't always go with the plan. The twist and turns, revelations and discoveries are what makes "Murder in Big Hope" a great read. It was hard to put down and each time I picked it up I was pulled back into the action. The mental conflicts and decisions that some of the characters had to deal with are thought provoking. When you see a wrong... do you step in right away? Do you step in at all?
Brinks does an excellent in character descriptions and the plotline never bogs. He keeps you on your toes until the final confrontation. I highly recommend this but, but suggest you start with Murder in Big Hope. You want to get to know the characters as they develop. While "Murder in Big Hope" is a good standalone read, I love the series and can't wait to see what Cage, Jamie, Luke, and Wes are up to next.

Better than Coben!

Hard to believe that Mr Brinks could top his first book Murder on Whiskey George, but he has with Murder in Big Hope! His continuing development of his characters is OUTSTANDING! I place Mr Brinks writing right there with the old master WEB Griffin. His writing I find similar to Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar series. I could not put this book down once I started. The only problem is I want more.... Anxiously awaiting the next Cage Royce,Luke Carey book!

Looking forward to the Next Chapter

Mystery novels are my escape from the demands of a job that requires a lot of long distance travel. I'm hooked on J.J. Brinks and the characters he's created. The story is believable and I found myself unable to put it down on my Seattle to NY trip. Brinks now is my favorite new mystery writer but he needs to ratchet up the completion of his next in his series. I'm scheduled to go to Frankfurt in April and I want more of JJ!
