Fulfillment

Carly Nelson and her best friend Christian come up with a plan for her to get pregnant with little fuss. The company rule about employees not dating would not be an issue because no one would see them together. After too many drinks, Chris forgets to impart an important piece of information to Carly. She ends up in bed with sexy, top shelf alpha male, Nick Mueller. It would be an ideal situation if Nick wasn't their boss! Things get stickier as Nick tries to figure out what is going on. Carly and Chris are caught in the middle and time is running out.

Will Carly fulfill her desire to become a mom? Will she and Chris both lose their jobs once Nick learns the truth? And will there be a HEA for Carly and Nick in the midst of all the chaos?

I was dying to know, which means I could not stop reading Fulfillment. I wasn't certain where the story was headed because Ms. Zant is brilliant at pacing and delivery. You don't know what's going on until she allows you to. There is no bait and switch except for the circumstances that the characters find themselves in. Carly and Chris are total BFFL, and are so believable that you know that you've seen them somewhere before. Nick is a no-nonsense type which is why it was difficult to believe that he wasn't more ticked off when he finds out what has happened. But considering the description of the searing hot sex he has with Carly, I can see why he was so malleable; good loving will sometimes do that to a man. In a romance story, it is de rigueur.

Fulfillment is funny and sassy. The plot moves along smoothly and has enough twists that you won't encounter a dull moment. Carly and Nick are sometimes vulnerable and awkward which makes them likeable. Chris is comic relief and devoted to Carly. This story has elements of passion gone awry (in a good way), friendship and quirk. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with loads of hijinks.

Great Book but The Series Needs Something New

If you have read the Love At Stake series you already have an inkling as to what the story will be like to a certain extent.

Dougal is one of the few remaining early members of the group that has not found a mate and then along comes Leah who not only brings out the MINE effect in him but reminds him of a love he lost 300 years ago.

Leah is not only beautiful, she is wicked smart and that is why she is there to help with some genetic research that needs to be done to fight off their latest adversary (a demon no less).

This is an off/on romance that in some places is a bit frustrating but still entertaining and the urban fantasy part of the plot keeps it from being too dopey or sugary sweet,

The injection of angels into this series in a subtle way that does not feel copied in any way adds much to this story and I really enjoyed that part and wonder what she plans for the future in that area since we are running out of characters to find mates for in this series.

Bottom Line: I like it but I can only give it 4 Stars because it is written almost to a formula in the romantic plots (the overarching UF plots are still excellent) and while you never really tire of seeing the guy get the girl this series needs some intangible things added to get it to 5 Star level in my opinion. Am I going to keep buying these books, of course, they are part of my addiction and I love seeing the old characters which unlike many series don't disappear or become cardboard cutouts but this series needs a injection of something because the best books in the series were written much earlier in the series.

The story of Leah and Dougal sweet and endearing

This was my first time reading a Kerrelyn Sparks book. Although I have seen her books in stores and online I just hadn't gotten around to reading her work.

First opinion was this is kind of a throw back in terms of vampire lore. Compared to current vamp/PNR out today. Sparks book vamps can levitate and cannot be seen in mirrors. I felt a bit nostalgic while reading this.This is book 14 of her Love at Stake Series.

Leah and Dougal met under hilarious circumstances and I dare say it was the funniest moment of the book. Having never read this series I can tell right of that "Vanna" must be a running joke. I also fell right into this series and can honestly say you can read this as a standalone. Although there is a history with these characters I didn't feel lost or out of the loop.

I found the story of Leah and Dougal sweet and endearing. The right amount of love, angst and suspense.

BAM! Book number 14! Can you believe it?!

Usually by book 7 of a series you'll find a lull in story, or repeated story-lines. Fortunately Sparks keeps it fresh with this newest installment of Love at Stake. The humor is still there, but you also get a very serious story of a guy that feels less of a man, and an awkward geek finding love.

I think part of the success of this series are that the characters are so different. I've heard authors say that their characters speak to them, so I can only imagine the 100's of voices that must be flowing through Sparks' mind at one time. lol. From book to book you get individuals with wonderfully unique quirks.

I don't want to give away too much plot, because there is a wonderfully heart warming twist and it would stink if you knew about it before hand. Just know that Dougal and Leah are meant to be. They have their ups and downs, but what fun would it be if they didn't!?

The action in this one is kept to a minimum, but the villain story line in Asia is still going strong. Hopefully in the next book we'll get to see a good 'ol fashion showdown between our wonderful Romatech saviors and the evil vamps causing problems out east.

So, great addition to the Love at Stake series! If you've read them to this point don't stop now! If you haven't checked out this series, pick it up today! You'll be in paranormal romance heaven :)

Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful book collections I've ever purchased. The combination of red and gold in the box is amazing. And it is a very sturdy box. The books are awesomely detailed. I recommend this collection for every Harry Potter fan out there.

The product came damaged, it is clear the set is a knock off due to i have four covers that say the book is prisoner of Azkaban then open the book and it is a totally different book. Even the dust covers are different than the hard cover. The story inside seems correct but this was a waste of my money!

Really is true what they say about books being a youngster's key to this big old world (including this fantasy world!)

Had begun a little early Christmas shopping at the beginning of November, when I stumbled upon this nice complete set of the 7-book Harry Potter series and began reading the reviews. I almost developed carpal tunnel syndrome from clicking those "helpful" buttons! Wow - so many amazing reviews here on Amazon. I haven't had my old head in the sand these past 15 years, which would just about have to be the case not to have heard of extremely talented author J. K. Rowling and the wonderful fantasy book series she spent a decade - 1997-2007 - creating, the eight movies stemming from the series that were released between 2001-2011 (the final book made for a "2-parter" in 2010 and 2011), young wizard Harry and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger (all students at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy), and his endeavors to defeat the evil wizard Lord Voldemort! As soon as I saw it, I called our daughter-in-law to see if she thought our oldest grandson (who'll be 8 next April) might enjoy this as one of his Christmas gifts - she said she knew he'd seen one of the DVDs (wasn't sure which one) and really enjoyed it, but after perusing probably a couple of hundred reviews, I was completely sold and immediately clicked that "Add to Cart" button (it was the last click I had energy for!)

Since this listing's info section gives you a list of the included books and good general info, and there are so many of the reviews that are even better, beautifully going into some of the particulars, I wondered what else can I possibly add, other than some grandmotherly advice... whether it's Harry Potter or any of the other terrific children's book series that are out there, do what you can to get that first book into their hands! Even if you need one of the DVDs to spark their interest, introducing your youngster to a well-written book series is one of the best decisions you'll ever make! I recall fondly a Christmas when I myself was 8... I wanted Barbie and Ken dolls, and had my fingers crossed for the Barbie Dream House (wasn't even particular about whether it was one of the older cardboard models, or one of the new fandangled plastic ones!) I ended up with Skipper (Barbie was a bit too well-endowed for my father's liking), some pajamas and a copy of Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women". A book? Who wants a book when you could've had a Dream House? In protest, I didn't touch it until my younger sibs and I were punished one day the following summer by being sent to our rooms for the afternoon so my frazzled mother could have some peace. Opened the book, and suffice it to say that it was hard to pull me away from it when the family dinner hour arrived! Must've re-read it three or four times that summer, it was followed by Ms. Alcott's "Little Men" and "Jo's Boys", and by Christmas, the top of my wish list simply read, "BOOKS"! Numerous book series would follow and totally entrance me, and I can't thank my parents enough for giving me an opportunity to discover the joy of reading.

Just so excited about the prospect of handing this series to our grandson this year. He always loved our lunchtime reads of Dr. Seuss, etc. during the five years I spent babysitting him, but he's a big-time second grader now, ready for "meatier" fare. Really looking forward to hearing his periodic updates on the adventures he's reading about!

A page turner

Very well written, Karrine has a gift for writing. However, It's quite clear Ms. Steffans needs serious therapy. The drugs, the abuse, the many men. It's sad to see a women of her age with such low self esteem. Chasing after a man after all these years that is clearly using her for sex. She's in love with the fantasy of being associated with lil' Wayne because of his celebrity. He treats her like any other groupie. She mistakes love for obsession. Ladies let this women's story be a lesson YOU set the standard on how others treat you.

Leaves you breathless....

AMAZING! Karrine Steffans outdid herself with this book. I am an avid reader and I was totally absorbed within the first paragraph. Karrine's words poured out of her soul into mine. She found a way to eloquently describe the conundrum of the feelings of the heart, the attachment of the body, the "urban" love lifestyle, marriage confusion, a woman's worth, and the soul's longings.

I read this book for 3 reasons...I love Karrine. I love Lil' Wayne. I am in love with my own Martian. I was unsure if anyone understood how I felt; until Karrine shared this with the world. She goes hard. Don't be confused. Quote from the book: Husband asked, "Are you going to stop seeing him?' Karrine's reply, "Never." If you have been there, you know that those few words say it all.

The portion of the book that describes her cultural belief relating to dreadlocks left me breathless. Finally, an explanation that my heart understands!!! The power of those locs are stronger than most realize. It is more than hair....*in my mama from the movie `Baby Boy' voice* "Please Believe Me"!

In Chapter 4 the first paragraph allows the reader to use all of their senses to understand how she felt. She nailed it! Women appreciate "visual reading" and Ms. Steffans delivered.

In Chapter 10, she explains the dueling of the heart and the mind. It's funny how you can be with and enjoy one thing; but still long for another. Her descriptions of her on & off again relationship with an ex-husband that was stuck in the cycle of violence shows her vulnerable side. Some things can't be explained. We stick around until we have a reason not to. And the reason is a mental thing; not just the fact that violence occurred. She had to find her strength and her peace and then moving on became easy and final. She walked out of the courthouse with her power intact.

She describes the pain that a woman goes through when her life is void of its true love. To some it may sound strange; but it can suck the joy out of you. Her image suffered, she suffered...we understood. But just like a warrior; she regained her position and changed the dynamics of her relationship in Chapter 17. I gave her a round of applause.

The proclamation in 6th paragraph in Chapter 19 was...everything. It must be read and re-read. It must be understood.

And finally, the Epilogue. It reads like a love letter. I am infatuated. Thank you Karrine.

If you have not read this book; DO SO. Karrine is more than you may think...she is a woman with a heart like the rest of us and.... an awesome author!

Really?

"It's just another sad love song racking my brain like crazy." In the words of the one and only Ms. Toni Braxton. Seriously? This is a grown woman who lays and waits on a man to call her. He is dating someone else publicly and yet she still clings to him. Women have to recognize their worth or suffer consequences such as what this woman is going through. She is a great business woman though. I bought it! More power to her, but seriously ladies please demand respect and claim your seat at the top or fall victim to the antics of a man that obviously does not want to be with you and does nothing to make you his own.
