About the Author
Ann Charles is a multiple national award-winning mystery author. Her novel, Nearly Departed in Deadwood, won the 2010 Daphne du Maurier for Excellence in Mystery/ Suspense and the 2011 RWA Golden Heart Award for Best Novel with Strong Romantic Elements. Her third novel in the Deadwood Mystery series, Dead Case in Deadwood, was selected as one of Suspense Magazine's BEST OF 2012 books.
She also writes the Jackrabbit Junction Mystery series and has plans to start another series set in Nevada in 2013.
Ann has had a huge crush on Deadwood, South Dakota for many moons. She dreams of the day when she can afford a vintage Victorian house of her own in Historic Deadwood. Currently, she lives near Seattle with her clever husband, charming children, and one hell of a sassy cat!

This Is THE Example of How To Write a Paranormal Book EVERYONE Loves

For anyone that reads my reviews I usually try to give enough info to get you interested but in this case this whole series is an example in how to write paranormal books that appeal to a wide cross section of the reading public. Every book has been 5 Star and this one is no exception BUT the trick here is that she has inserted a bit more paranormal into each book (it is barely paranormal most of book #1) until this book is pretty close to a "normal" level of paranormal. Great writing, great humor, serious life threatening plots/situations and some normal problems. Add in several characters you can hate in addition to the REALLY evil guys and it is a formula that can't miss. Start with book #1 and keep going, you will get hooked, there are only 4 of them so far and all top notch entertainment. I HATE her bratty kids but I guess that is a problem most single Moms face when they have to devote a huge amount of time to keeping food on the table and trying to have a love life. Get these books, you will thank me :)

If you've read one, you've read them all

I chose this book and the 3 other in the series because I love the Black Hills and especially Deadwood. I read the first one and thought it was only okay and hoped that the next one would pick up the storyline and develop it into something more interesting. That didn't happen but, since I had already bought the other books, I kept reading. The main characters in all the books have 3 things in common; 1) they can't answer a question without being evasive and rarely have a meaningful conversation with another person, 2) they get into a snit because they never actually communicate and stalk off or hang up on each other as a result and 3)they spend most of their time (when they're not ticking each other off) trying to find someone somewhere (anywhere) with whom to have sex. I think the author had one plot and tried to drag it out for four books, so every book in the series is the same, just the ghost and zombie names change. If you're into thin plots, the "undead" and never having a meaningful talk with someone else, this is the series for you! I'm still trying to figure out why I kept reading and I can only guess it's because I paid for them and hate to waste money. I wasted my time instead!

More excitement in Deadwood!

The Deadwood gang is back and they are plagued by more mystery, mayhem, and murder. Violet (Spooky) Parker has a whole new set of problems to work through.
This is the fourth book in the always amazing Deadwood series.
This book is a page turner from beginning to end. I loved the character development. From sexy "financial advisor" Doc (fans self), to humorous Old Man Harvey and his words to live by and then throw in an Abe Lincoln looking ghost whisperer, and many other infectious characters there isn't a dull moment.
The paranormal episodes, the danger lurking around every corner is tense, but on top of that Violet has to juggle being a single mom, realtor, lover and so much more. I love this series! Ann Charles is so very talented. She has made the Deadwood gang feel like family!
I am anxiously awaiting the next book! If you have not read the entire Deadwood series I enthusiastically recommend the series. Ann also writes the Jackrabbit Junction series Which is another favorite series of mine.
If you are looking for wonderful, exciting paranormal mystery/romance, Deadwood will capture you.
